Lynn L. Bergeson Joins Editorial Board of Industrial Biotechnology, the Journal of Biobased Innovation

Co-Editor-in-Chief Larry P. Walker, Ph.D., announced that Lynn L. Bergeson, Managing Partner of Bergeson & Campbell, P.C. (B&C^®) and President of B&C Consortia Management, L.L.C. (BCCM), has been appointed to the editorial board of Industrial Biotechnology, the journal of biobased innovation driving the global bioeconomy published bimonthly by Mary Ann Liebert, Inc. Publishers.

In making the announcement, Dr. Walker commented that “Ms. Bergeson’s membership on the Editorial Board provides our readership with an informed voice on how environmental and commercialization policies influence industrial biotechnology development.” His sentiments were echoed by Ms. Bergeson, who stated: “Industrial Biotechnology is an extremely valuable publication that provides unique and highly targeted content for stakeholders in this space. I am honored to be part of the Editorial Board and look forward to focusing on the evolving interface between commercialization and federal and international governance policies and regulations that influence market development.”

Lynn L. Bergeson has been working on industrial and agricultural chemical policy issues for over two decades. She has worked extensively on Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) reform, emerging technologies, including nanotechnology, biotechnology, and synthetic biology, and the application of legal and governance systems to these emerging technologies. She has been at the forefront of efforts to address challenges derivative of the application of TSCA, a 1970’s law reflective of the petroleum-based commercial chemistry of the time, to newer, greener biobased chemicals and chemical products.

Ms. Bergeson has been instrumental in bringing biobased industry stakeholders and regulators together to collaborate on and think through new policy paradigms to repurpose TSCA to apply to newer chemical platforms as a speaker and moderator at events such as BIO World Congress, the Biobased and Renewable Chemicals Summit, and the American Chemical Society’s Green Chemistry and Engineering Conference. She is also very involved with the BCCM-managed Biobased and Renewable Products Advocacy Group (BRAG™), a consortium of leading sustainable chemistry companies pursuing more robust policies for new technologies to ensure fair and equitable treatment for biobased chemical feedstocks and products.
