Ligia Duarte Botelho, M.A., Regulatory Assistant with Bergeson & Campbell, P.C., provides support for the registration and sustained compliance of industrial, agricultural, specialty, and other chemical products under the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) and other global regulatory systems. Ms. Botelho holds a Master’s degree in Public Policy from Kings College London, is fully trilingual (English, French, and Portuguese), and has experience working with government agencies in the U.S., Europe, and Southeast Asia.

Ms. Botelho’s career prior to joining B&C included work with the United Nations (UN) Office for Disaster Risk Reduction, the Council for the Advancement of Nursing Science, the University of Colorado, and the World Health Organization (WHO).  During her undergraduate studies, Ms. Botelho interned for U.S. Senator Mark Udall (Colorado).

Representative Engagements:

  • Prepared comments on the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) Chemical Data Reporting (CDR) proposed rule to ensure efficacy and clarify industry questions and concerns.
  • Presented and participated in conferences focused on biobased innovations and the circular economy.
  • Represented consortia at meetings with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to discuss industry concerns related to older Integrated Risk Information System (IRIS) assessments of certain chemicals.
  • Provided expertise and project management support to a consortium interested in updates to the Joint Food Agriculture Organization (FAO)/World Health Organization (WHO) Experts Committee on Food Additives (JECFA) monograph updates.
  • Organized and prepared slides for an educational webinar on EPA’s Metals Framework under TSCA.
