BRS Will Hold Annual Stakeholder Meeting on November 14, 2024
The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) Biotechnology Regulatory Services (BRS) will hold its annual stakeholder meeting on November 14, 2024. The meeting will take place in person at the USDA Center at Riverside, 4700 River Road, Riverdale, Maryland, with an option for virtual attendance. The meeting agenda includes the following items:
- Program Highlights: An overview of BRS’ fiscal year (FY) 2024 successes;
- Regulatory Status Review (RSR) Process: An overview of how BRS uses plant reference documents (PRD) and mechanism of action descriptions (MOAD) during an initial review and highlights of FY 2024 process improvements;
- Permitting Updates: An overview of the challenges identified during BRS’ Business Process Improvement (BPI) review, how it is resolving them and next steps;
- International Update: Highlights of BRS’ multi-faceted engagement in FY 2024;
- Compliance and Inspection Update: An overview of the challenges identified during BRS’ BPI and how it is resolving them, and how it responded to stakeholder feedback on the draft Guide for Submitting Reports and Notices;
- Microbes: A high-level overview of the comments received on the Request for Information (RFI) involving modified microbes and next steps; and
- APHIS eFile Update: Discussion of APHIS eFile enhancements and the flexibilities they offer to improve the customer experience, including tips for “short cuts” in the system.
