CISA Will Host 2024 Chemical Security Seminars on July 11 and 18, 2024

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) is hosting the fully virtual 2024 Chemical Security Seminars on July 11 and 18, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. (EDT). The sessions will cover a range of topics related to the security of dangerous chemicals. The preliminary agenda includes:

  • State of Chemical Security (Kelly Murray, Associate Director, CISA Chemical Security);
  • Transnational Threats Impacting Chemical Security (Robert Justiniano, Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI); and Scott Watson, the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL)) (this session is closed to press);
  • Federal Partner Priorities for Addressing Emerging Chemical Threats (Sonya Proctor, Transportation Security Administration (TSA) Surface Operations; Todd Klessman, CISA Cyber Incident Reporting for Critical Infrastructure Act of 2022 (CIRCIA); Captain Andy Meyers, U.S. Coast Guard (USCG); and Mara Winn, U.S. Department of Energy (DOE));
  • The Impacts of Artificial Intelligence on Chemical Security (Sean Ekins, Chief Executive Officer, Collaborations Pharmaceuticals, Inc.);
  • “Wicked Problems” in Chemical Security (Matt Fridley, Brenntag North America; Alfonso Cavazos, INEOS Olefins & Polymers USA, LLC; and Todd Mesick, The Lubrizol Corporation);
  • Response Strategies for Hazardous Chemical Incidents: Lessons Learned and Best Practices (Paul Ruesch, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Region 5; Jerry Janick, City of LeSalle (Illinois) Fire Department; and Mark Reynolds, Plainfield (Illinois) Fire District);
  • Drone Policy and Use Impacts to Global Critical Infrastructure (Lieutenant Jeff Hirsch, FBI/Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF)); and
  • Tactics and Resources for Managing Physical and Cyber Threats (Kelly Spade, CISA Chemical Security; and Bryan McDonald, CISA Region 4).

The seminars are free to attend and open to the public.
