The Environmental Law Institute (ELI) and the George Washington University Milken Institute School of Public Health held a day-long "TSCA Reform: One Year Later" conference exploring the federal government’s implementation of the Frank R. Lautenberg Chemical Safety for the 21st Century Act, which significantly amended the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA), just over one year after it was signed into law.  Speakers discussed key components of the bipartisan legislation and provided an overview of the current state of implementation.  Afternoon breakout sessions invited all participants to discuss ongoing law and policy issues. Visit the ELI event website for more details on the current program. This event was free and open to the public.  Bergeson & Campbell, P.C. was a proud sponsor.

On February 9, 2015, the U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) published the "Enforcement Guidance for the Hazard Communication Standard's (HCS) June 1, 2015, Effective Date " (Guidance). The Guidance offers important insights into OSHA's HCS enforcement strategy and is a must read for stakeholders. B&C, Acta, and 3E Company presented a complimentary webinar on the steps companies should take before June 1, 2015, to comply fully with HCS, or else to document sufficient diligence toward full compliance to avoid enforcement action.

The Toxic Chemicals Control Act (TCCA) of 1991 -- the key law addressing the basic management of industrial chemicals -- will be divided, as of January 1, 2015, into two regulatory schemes: South Korea's newly minted chemical management law, the Act on the Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemical Substances that has come to be called K-REACH, and the Chemical Control Act (CCA).
