WEBINAR—NAFTA Members’ GHS Programs: A Comparative Analysis, December 10, 2014, 1:00 p.m. (EST)

While the United Nations’ Globally Harmonized System for Classification and Labeling of Chemicals (GHS) model provides a backbone for hazard communications, it is only a tool for other nations to utilize, adopt, and amend as appropriate for their country-specific needs. There are substantial differences between approaches taken by Canada, Mexico, and the United States in GHS implementation, and professionals responsible for compliant Safety Data Sheets and labels in these countries should pay close attention to the variations. The webinar, hosted by Bloomberg BNA and presented by Karin F. Baron MSPH, Regulatory Specialist with B&C, provided background information on the major building blocks of UN GHS, and examined the specific similarities and differences between GHS in Canada, Mexico, and the United States. For more information : NAFTA Members’ GHS Programs: A Comparative Analysis.

April 2014

Webinar: EU Biocidal Products Regulation (BPR): What it Means for Industry and How it Compares to U.S. Regulation, April 30, 2014, 1:00pm - 2:30pm

The European Union Biocidal Products Regulation dramatically changes the way biocidal active substances and products, as well as many products not traditionally considered biocidal products, are regulated under European law. Practical aspects of this new regulatory system are subtly different from those in other jurisdictions, EU neighboring countries, and the US. Companies exporting to the EU as a component of their global business must ensure that their supply chains and product designs are compliant with the regulation.

The webinar, presented by Bloomberg BNA and featuring Andrew R. Bourne, Lisa R. Burchi, and Lara A. Hall, was focused on existing industry norms and explore how current standard practices are affected by the new developments in EU biocides regulation. The current trends in the EU biocides regulatory landscape will be compared to the U.S. system (the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA)), and the time and practical steps necessary to bring a product to market in the U.S. and EU were contrasted. 1.5 hours of CPE or CLE credit.
