Bergeson shared insight and analysis regarding existing and emerging governance tools in the U.S., Canada, and Europe, and explored nanotechnology governance approaches that are due to become operational in 2015 and beyond. Topics included governance methods relating to nanotechnology chemical applications in specific products, such as food contact materials, cosmetics, and medical devices, and existing and emerging governance tools in the areas such as environmental (media specific — air, water, and waste); product safety (consumer product and product liability); product-specific (industrial, agricultural, and biocide); and workplace protection (workers, ambient air, and health and safety standards).
