This webinar was presented by the Air and Waste Management Association (AWMA). The commercialization of nanomaterials is rapidly growing. Existing laws are being used to manage potential risks and to promote nanomaterials’ benefits. Entities engaged with nanomaterials must be diligent and ensure commercial applications of nanomaterials pose no adverse effects. A proactive, informed approach can prevent adverse results and unintended consequences. Jim Alwood and Kenneth Moss, EPA, discussed how the U.S. regulatory framework is facilitating nanomaterial commercialization and discussed the process for notifications of nanomaterials under the Toxic Substances Control Act. Lynn L. Bergeson, Bergeson & Campbell, P.C., addressed the beneficial applications of nanomaterials, and strategies stakeholders can pursue to ensure their nano activities are undertaken lawfully.
