Become a Member of the Sustainable Nanotechnology Organization

Bergeson & Campbell, P.C.

Bergeson & Campbell, P.C. (B&C®) is a proud supporter of the Sustainable Nanotechnology Organization (SNO) and we enthusiastically recommend that you consider joining and becoming part of the SNO family during the 2015 membership drive, running now through July 3, 2015. Lynn L. Bergeson, Managing Partner of B&C, has served on the Governance Board since SNO’s founding in 2012.

SNO’s purpose is unique. It is the only organization devoted exclusively to supporting the development of sustainable nanotechnology for the improvement of society, the environment, and human health; promoting the advancement and application of scientific research related to nanotechnology, implementation of sustainable nanotechnology for environment, health, and safety (EHS), and the use of nanotechnology in policy and decision-making; and providing a professional society where scientists, engineers, and other professionals exchange information and ideas for the development and use of nanotechnology leading to overall sustainability. Membership in SNO offers a number of benefits to stakeholders in the nano community, including complimentary registration for the 2015 SNO Conference to be held November 8-10, 2015, in Portland, Oregon.

SNO is comprised of individuals and institutions that are engaged in:

  • Research and development of sustainable nanotechnology;

  • Implications of nanotechnology for EHS;

  • Advances in nanoscience, methods, protocols, and metrology;

  • Education and understanding of sustainable nanotechnology; and

  • Applications of nanotechnology for sustainability.

As SNO is a non-profit, membership fees are tax-deductible. New membership fees paid by July 3, 2015, will be good through September 2016. Membership is available at several levels, starting at $25/year for students and $125/year for general membership, with additional options for Contributing and Platinum membership levels. To join, visit SNO’s Membership web page.

SNO is guided by co-founders Wunmi Sadik, Ph.D., Professor of Bioanalytical and Environmental Chemistry at SUNY-Binghamton, and Barbara Karn, Ph.D., a Senior Advisor to the Woodrow Wilson Center Program on Emerging Nanotechnologies and former program director at the National Science Foundation (NSF), and scientists at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. More information on SNO’s governing board is available on the SNO website.

B&C and affiliated consulting firm, The Acta Group (Acta®), have been at the forefront of addressing legal, regulatory, and policy implications of nanomaterials and nanotechnology and other emerging transformative technologies worldwide.
