EU Survey Seeks Information on Needs for Integration of Nanofabrication Industrial Ecosystem

Lynn L. BergesonCarla N. Hutton

The SUSNANOFAB project, funded by the European Union’s (EU) Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation Program, is conducting a survey on industrial needs. The SUSNANOFAB project intends to create a nanofabrication ecosystem that will include an integrated roadmap of the relevant public and private initiatives at the EU level and with international cooperation. According to SUSNANOFAB, this roadmap will define a common strategy intended to enable “all pre-competitive conditions for the successful market uptake of nanofabricated products and solutions.” SUSNANOFAB is developing an Open Access digital platform that operates with existing platforms, projects, and other initiatives across Europe. SUSNANOFAB is approaching industrial stakeholders to help identify their immediate industrial needs. SUSNANOFAB states that these are the challenges that industrial stakeholders face in bringing their products or services to market and could include knowledge gaps, financial needs, access to infrastructures, or regulatory compliance.

SUSNANOFAB seeks to understand how companies identify and address solutions to their industrial needs and their willingness to work with others to solve their needs. According to SUSNANOFAB, the survey will help in constructing the digital platform and also help identify possible brokerage opportunities that can be addressed by SUSNANOFAB partners. SUSNANOFAB will use the survey results to help shape the digital platform and to inform the brokerage activities being undertaken by the project. Survey participation is purely voluntary, and all responses will remain anonymous. According to General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) guidelines, no contact details will be shared outside of the project.
