Marketing and Use of Biocidal Products in the European Union Webinar Invitation
September 19, 2012
10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. (EDT)
15:00 p.m. – 17:00 p.m. (BST)
The Acta Group (Acta), Bergeson & Campbell, P.C.’s (B&C) consulting affiliate, will hold a complimentary webinar on September 19, 2012, to outline and discuss changes to the European Union (EU) regulations for companies marketing biocidal active substances and biocidal products in the EU. The new Biocides Regulation (EC regulation 528/2012) adopted on May 22, 2012, and effective September 1, 2013, imposes important new regulations and requirements on companies marketing biocide products in the EU. The regulation specifies that all companies marketing or distributing a biocidal product in the EU must have access to the data on the active substance(s) contained in the product. This signals a paradigm shift by making all companies more responsible for the hazards posed by biocidal products and is expected to affect all areas of biocidal substance use from rodenticides and algaecides to clothing and air fresheners. Acta will discuss the new responsibilities of companies the regulations impose and will highlight the measures the EU will implement to transition between the previous directive (98/8/EC) and the new regulation. A question and answer session will follow the presentation. Acta’s Lynn L. Bergeson and Leslie S. MacDougall will moderate the program.
