ChemCon 2012 The Americas is now underway in New Orleans and the pre-conference seminar on taking a “Global Approach to New Chemicals” offered attendees practical advice on navigating the global regulatory gauntlet. ChemCon Daily quoted Acta’s Leslie Scott-MacDougall, saying that companies must: “Start by having a clear idea of what the sales and marketing plans are for the product for at least three years, including planned increases in tonnage. Following this, they need to map their substance identity and properties against the requirements of inventory notification rules in each target market. They can then drill down to more detailed data requirements to arrive at a picture of testing requirements for a substance. While these steps sound straightforward they mask considerable complexity. “There are 50 ways to say yes,” Ms. Scott-MacDougall noted.”
