IBA Agricultural Law Section to Present Sustainability Focus Session “Sustainable Investment in Agriculture — The Role Lawyers Play” at Annual Conference

Bergeson & Campbell, P.C.

The International Bar Association (IBA) Annual Conference in Miami, Florida, brings together lawyers from over 130 jurisdictions and all parts of the legal profession, including lawyers in private practice, in-house counsel, human rights advocates, judges, bar leaders, regulators, and government representatives. Lynn L. Bergeson and Nusrat Hassan co-chair IBA’s Agricultural Law Section (ALS). Hassan and others from the ALS will present the Sustainability Focus session “Sustainable Investment in Agriculture — The Role Lawyers Play” on November 3, 2022. The conference is scheduled for October 30 – November 4, 2022, and registration is open now.

ALS’s presentation will build upon two previous capacity development webinars presented by ALS earlier this year, “Responsible land-based investments in agriculture: Africa and Asia-Pacific.” During these webinars, practitioners, including Sara Moyo and Hassan, shared their experience and advice in facilitating investments that are responsible and realize sustainable outcomes and in identifying and mitigating land rights-related risks, respecting legitimate tenure rights, and addressing practical considerations for due diligence. Both the Africa webinar and resources and the Asia-Pacific webinar and resources are available to view on the IBA website.
