NIOSH Announces Public Meeting and Opportunity for Public Comment on Proposed Survey
On June 19, 2013, the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) published a Federal Register notice announcing a public meeting and opportunity for comment on a proposed NIOSH survey. The primary purpose of the survey is to evaluate the use of NIOSH guidelines and risk mitigation practices for safe handling of engineered nanomaterials in the workplace. The proposed survey will examine the extent to which NIOSH and other guidelines are implemented and the barriers to using the guidelines. According to NIOSH, information collected from the survey will be useful in future revisions of the guidelines. Registration to attend the July 31, 2013, meeting is due July 17, 2013, and will be accepted on a first come, first served basis. Public comments on the proposed survey are due September 15, 2013.
