The Acta Group Wins “Supply Chains Award” at the 2017 Chemicals Northwest Awards
The Acta Group (Acta®), a global scientific and business consulting firm offering a full range of support services for the process of obtaining approvals to market industrial chemicals, biocides, and chemical products, with offices in Washington, D.C., Beijing, China, and Manchester, UK, has been named winner of the Chemicals Northwest 2017 “Supply Chains Award.” Chemicals Northwest Awards are presented in ten categories, all of which recognize excellence in the chemical and chemical service sector in the Northwest of England, the UK’s chemical industry hub.
Acta’s work finding pathways of Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH) compliance for challenging chemical approval matters earned the firm the 2017 “Supply Chain Award,” specifically for assisting a multinational company in managing comprehensively the complexities associated with substance manufacturing and importing obligations under the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA), REACH, and Korea’s Act for the Registration and Evaluation of Chemicals (K-REACH). The nature of the substance, data sharing, a complex supply chain, and confidential business information (CBI) interplayed to present a challenging situation that required immense regulatory, scientific, and technical knowledge and experience. Acta was able to develop and provide to its client testing plans to prepare high quality data for multijurisdictional compliance. Acta’s regulatory and scientific teams were well-suited to evaluate these data in the context of the three relevant regulatory schemes and ensure successful, robust, and scientifically sound submissions. Acta EU’s comprehensive practical understanding of REACH and Acta’s strategic partnerships in Asia played a pivotal role in the success of the project.
The seventh Chemicals Northwest Awards dinner took place on March 30, 2017, at the Crowne Plaza Liverpool City Centre hotel, Liverpool, England, and was hosted by BBC TV broadcaster Dianne Oxberry. Acta’s Amy C. Jackson and Louise C. Boardall accepted the award on behalf of their colleagues worldwide. The sponsor of the 2017 “Supply Chains Award” was the Chemical Industries Association. Chemicals Northwest is an industry-led chemical cluster support organization affiliated with the Chemical Industries Association.
