Congress Fails to Pass Spending Legislation, but a Shutdown Is Unlikely
Congress has not passed legislation to fund the federal government for fiscal year 2025 (FY 2025) that begins October 1, 2024. The House of Representatives on September 18 tried — and failed — to pass legislation to fund the government into March 2025.
